Metreks vs QuickBooks

QuickBooks gives you a review queue. Metreks gives you books.

QuickBooks is solid general-purpose accounting. But for an online brand, its automation stops short: most transactions still wait for you, and Shopify payouts are left for you to untangle.

Small businesses of every kind, with an accountant or bookkeeper doing the categorizing and reconciling.

The review queue problem

QuickBooks downloads your bank transactions and suggests categories, but most of them land in a “for review” list that someone has to work through. Rules help, but you write and maintain them yourself. For a busy online brand with hundreds of transactions a month, the books fall behind fast.

Metreks books first and asks only when it genuinely needs you. Known vendors book themselves, one correction teaches every similar transaction, and Metreks AI handles the rest. Anything it can't book confidently becomes a single, clear question, never a silent guess.

Shopify payouts aren't revenue

A Shopify payout is sales minus fees, refunds, chargebacks and adjustments, often days after the orders. Booking the deposit as “sales” understates revenue, hides fees and makes the profit number wrong. Metreks books each order, fee and refund as it happened and matches the payout to the bank.

When QuickBooks is the better fit

If your business runs on invoices and payroll rather than online orders, or your accountant already manages everything in QuickBooks, it's a reasonable choice. Metreks is built for brands that sell online and want the books to keep themselves.
